On June 13-14, 2013, UPSTATE: A center for design, research, and real estate at the Syracuse University School of Architecture and Enterprise Community Partners held a one-and-a half day, Community Development and Design Leadership Forum (CDLF) in Syracuse, NY. Building off of the success of the Enterprise Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute and the Mayor’s Institute on City Design, CDLF brought together professionals in design and development focused on the Upstate New York region. Innovative projects that produce more livable, sustainable, and resource-efficient housing for the New York region were selected. The Forum provided a NYS forum designed explicitly to share, promote, and expand the principles and best practices of the design and finance of housing and community facilities. The information exchange between design experts and developers is meant to grow the regional network and showcase design excellence and innovation in housing and finance.
