Merik Mulcahy is a collaborator with Ideas and Action and a real estate development professional with seven years of experience across the affordable housing, co-working, light-industrial, retail, and hospitality asset classes. Merik brings experience with public-private partnerships, community engagement, workforce development, and affordable commercial space for entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds.
As an Assistant Vice President at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Merik negotiated and executed complex real estate transactions with private partners for the re-development of the City of New York’s real estate portfolio, coordinating financing and entitlements with City and State agencies and a variety of public stakeholders. Merik also brings four years of experience in the private sector, first as an Analyst focused on multifamily development at Clark Realty Capital, and later as an Associate at MCR Investors where he led acquisition of 30 assets across 26 secondary and tertiary metro markets throughout the U.S.
Merik is a graduate of Princeton University with a BA in political science, and a certificate in urban studies. He is a former Research Fellow at the Poverty & Race Research Action Council, and a passionate advocate for urbanism and racial justice.
